CATEGORIES

We have made a number of changes to the category list for the 2027 awards in response to feedback we have received.

In order to celebrate three decades of the UK Pensions Awards, we are including a special 30th Anniversary Award for Excellence category in order to recognise the firm that has made the greatest contribution to the industry since our accolades were first launched in 1998.

We have replaced the Alternative and Private Markets Investment Manager of the Year category with three separate awards - Private Equity Manager of the Year; Private Debt Manager of the Year and Infrastructure Manager of the Year. We have also launched a Multi-Private Market Solutions Provider of the Year category to reflect that increasing number of managers offer blended private market solutions, particularly for DC default funds (combining PE, infrastructure, and private credit in a single fund or LTAF).

We have renamed the Fiduciary Manager of the Year category as Fiduciary/OCIO Manager of the Year to reflect the broader range of delegated investment options on offer to schemes.

We have merged the Run-on Provider of the Year and Alternative Endgame Solution Provider of the Year categories into a single Run-on and Alternative Endgame Solution Provider of the Year category.

We have renamed the Risk Transfer Provider of the Year as Pension Risk Transfer Provider of the Year to reflect market nomenclature.

We have renamed the ESG Manager of the Year as the Sustainable Investment Manager of the Year to more closely align with market terminology. We have also merged the Impact Manager of the Year into this category.

We have removed the Cashflow-driven Investment (CDI) Manager of the Year category.

We have renamed the Equity Manager of the Year and Fixed Income Manager of the Year as Equity Innovation of the Year and Fixed Income Innovation of the Year.

We have renamed the Retirement Innovation of the Year category as DC Retirement Innovation of the Year, moving this category into our DC awards section.

Once again this year, the awards incorporate a range of Pension Scheme of the Year Awards categories – Pension Scheme of the Year, Best Pension Scheme Communications Strategy, LGPS Innovation of the Year and Best Pension Scheme Investment Strategy – dedicated to the achievements of pension schemes themselves. In addition to pension schemes entering these accolades on their own behalf, we also welcome entries on their behalf from their consultants and providers, providing the scheme has given its consent to the entries being submitted on their behalf.

30th Anniversary Award

The UK Pensions Awards celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2027. To mark the occasion, we are introducing a one-off category that looks beyond the past year to recognise an organisation that has helped shape the UK occupational pensions market over three decades – celebrating consistently high performance, continuing innovation and a lasting commitment to trustees, sponsors and members.

30th Anniversary Award for Excellence

This one-off category is open to consultants, providers and asset managers that have served UK occupational pension schemes over the past three decades, whether under their current name or through predecessor businesses.

Entrants should demonstrate how they have delivered consistent performance, innovation and service over three decades, and how they continue to do so today.

Judges will look at the extent to which the entrant has:

• maintained high standards of service and delivered strong outcomes for pension schemes, trustees, sponsors and members over a sustained period; innovated and adapted to major changes in the market, such as shifts in regulation, the move from DB to DC, and changing investment and risk management practices;

• made a lasting contribution to the wider pensions industry, for example through new products, ideas, standards, research or education;

• earned the trust of clients over time, with evidence such as long-standing relationships, client retention and testimonials; and

• shown a continuing commitment to the future, including recent developments and plans to meet the needs of schemes and members in the years ahead.

Entrants should submit a concise narrative of their history and achievements, supported by examples and client endorsements where appropriate. Submissions from firms that have been in existence for at least 20 of the 30 years will be accepted. Please contact Professional Pensions if you are unsure whether your organisation is eligible.
